Frequently Asked Questions

CAN WE COME AND GO FROM THE RESORT?
Absolutely! This is just like accommodation anywhere else. Your time is your own. There are no restrictions on your movements. No activities are compulsory. This isn’t school – this is schoolies!

ARE WE ALLOWED TO BRING SHOPPING ON SITE?
Ballina is full of great shops and large grocery and other stores. You can buy what you like and bring it on site. There are no restrictions. In fact we make it easy for you and the Village ‘Happy Wheels’ does a shopping run each day for shoppers.

HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE THERE?
The Ballina Beach Village is a resort for around 200 guests. We offer you a festival atmosphere during schoolies with some great free activites. You are neither obliged to participate in these events nor are you required to be at the resort all  the time. If you want to head to Byron for the day – fine, hop on our shuttle and enjoy Byron or Ballina. If you want to stay over night (and many schoolies have friends in other locations and can do this), just let us know that you will be off site and when you will returning approximately.  We aren’t your Mum and Dad, but we like to have some idea how many people are on site at any one time.  Also, your friends are welcome to stay with us too in your cabins - but a nightly fee will apply. PLUS they have to check in and sign the check in form! Simple stuff - but good to know all the facts.

WHAT ABOUT NOISE CURFEWS?
Because the resort only has schoolies  on site at this time, there are no restrictions regarding noise and behaviour like you would find within a normal tourist community like Byron where residents, other tourists and schoolies are all mixed together.
We also realise that schoolies like to sleep too, so we have organised a late night party zone and chat area – which has free tea, coffee and snacks. This way everyone who stays at our beautiful eco resort gets what they want. Those people who want to stay up late can do so, those people who want to go back to their bungalows can get a good night’s sleep - can have sweet dreams.

WHAT ARE THE RULES ABOUT ALCOHOL?
We are not a licensed premises, but we do support responsible service of alcohol and also all laws relating to alcohol consumption. Please be aware that we do not encourage or support underage drinking in any way.

WHAT SECURITY WILL YOU HAVE?
Our security are schoolies friendly. They are not the police. They will be courteous and helpful to you at all times. Their brief is to ensure that everyone has fun, but in a safe way. Extreme behaviour is not acceptable – and will be dealt with accordingly. Behaviour that is likely to endanger other people or the person concerned will be stopped immediately. Aggressive, violent, drunken/drugged or sexually predatory behaviour is not acceptable. Our experience with thousands of schoolies over the years is that the people who create these problems are very much in the minority and are not attracted to an exclusive event such as Going Tribal. Typically they are more likely to be attracted to a mob party in a deregulated event.

CAN FRIENDS JOIN ME AT THE RESORT?
Yes you are very welcome to bring friends on site. Many schoolies have large groups of friends in the area. This is not a lock down or lock out situation. They are welcome to come and have dinner with you. Obviously if they want accommodation for the night, then there will be a fee or they want to attend a gated event then there will be a modest charge. There is no charge for free events.

BONDS
Our reputation with schoolies is second to none. However we have clear rules about what is acceptable when renting. Clearly we do not want our property to be damaged in anyway and all bungalows are to be left in a neat and clean condition (i.e. all rubbish etc to be picked up and bagged) – otherwise extra cleaning fees will be incurred. We don’t collect a bond off you, but we will ask you to make sure that the space you occupy has been well looked after and is left in a neat and clean condition, so the cleaners can come through.

MY PARENTS WANT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE?
We welcome discussion with parents at any time. Please ring Rikki or Rachel on 0456 363 207. They will be happy to answer all your questions.
