Cheap Fakes
Brisbane based Cheap Fakes are a six piece band whose sound is not confined by the limitations of styles or genres. Predominantly steeped in off beat guitars and catchy melodies, the band have been performing their fusion of funk, pop, reggae and dance music to captivated audiences since 2009.
Cheap Fakes have quickly become one of Brisbane’s most hard working live acts, regularly packing venues and events across Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast and Byron Bay. Their inimitable sound has earned them party favourite status across the sunshine state, providing their fans with music that is engaging, uplifting and most importantly great to dance to.
Cheap Fakes highly anticipated debut album, ‘Stones and Sticks‘ was released independently in July 2010. The album quickly reached number one on 4ZzZ FM’s Top 20 charts and received regular air play on Triple J. Sarah Howells of Triple J’s Roots ‘n’ All program voted ‘Stones & Sticks’ in her Top 10 albums of 2010 and the year culminated in two singles from the album taking out places in the Top 10 of 4ZzZ FM’s Hot 100 countdown.
The release of Stones and Sticks saw Cheap Fakes embark on their first tour, including a string of shows in North Queensland and Sydney. The interstate audiences embraced Cheap Fakes unique sound and welcomed them back without hesitation.
With an extensive catalogue of songs, the band is already in the pre-production stage of their follow up album and are planning to spend the next few months touring nationally and internationally with their Stones and Sticks release.
